Always inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, herbal supplements, and recreational drugs. This includes nitrates, both prescription and recreational, such as amyl nitrite (“poppers”). Combining Nizagara with nitrates can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Alpha-Blockers and Other Blood Pressure Medications
Nizagara can interact with alpha-blockers (used to treat high blood pressure or enlarged prostate) and other blood pressure medications. This interaction may lead to significantly lower blood pressure, potentially causing dizziness or fainting. Consult your doctor before combining Nizagara with these medications.
CYP3A4 Inhibitors
Medications that inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme, such as ketoconazole and erythromycin, can increase Nizagara levels in your blood, potentially leading to side effects. Your doctor might adjust your Nizagara dose if you’re taking a CYP3A4 inhibitor.
Alcohol
Consuming alcohol while taking Nizagara can increase the risk of side effects like dizziness, headache, and low blood pressure. Limit or avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
Grapefruit Juice
Grapefruit juice contains compounds that can interact with Nizagara, increasing its concentration in your blood and potentially causing side effects. Avoid grapefruit juice during your treatment.
Other Medications
Several other medications may interact with Nizagara. Provide a complete list of your medications to your doctor or pharmacist to assess potential interactions. This includes but is not limited to; anti-fungals, protease inhibitors, and macrolide antibiotics.
